The Studio: Killer Instinct's DNA, Skybound's Universe
Invincible VS is developed by Quarter Up — a Los Angeles-based studio founded by several core members of the team behind Killer Instinct (2013), one of the most respected fighting games of the modern era. Quarter Up is the first in-house development studio under Skybound Games, the company co-founded by Invincible creator Robert Kirkman.
The pedigree here is extraordinary. These are people who know how to make a fighting game that is mechanically deep, visually spectacular, and deeply committed to the source material.
The Roster: 18 Characters, One Brand New Face
Invincible VS launches with 18 playable characters, all faithfully adapted from the Invincible comics and Amazon animated series. The confirmed launch roster is:
Allen the Alien, Anissa, Atom Eve, Battle Beast, Bulletproof, Cecil Stedman, Conquest, Dupli-Kate, Ella Mental, Invincible (Mark Grayson), Lucan, Monster Girl, Omni-Man, Powerplex, Rex Splode, Robot, Thula, and Titan.
The most fascinating addition is Ella Mental — a completely original character created specifically for the game by Invincible co-creators Robert Kirkman and Cory Walker, voiced by rapper Tierra Whack. Her story begins as an heiress who discovers an ancient totem granting her elemental powers over earth, wind, fire, and water. She is making her debut here — in Invincible VS — before appearing in any other Invincible media. That is a significant statement of confidence from Kirkman in the game's place within his universe.
Members of the animated series' voice cast reprise their roles — Steven Yeun as Invincible, J.K. Simmons as Omni-Man, and T.J. Storm as Allen the Alien, among others.
Gameplay: The Omni-Tag System and Brutal, Relentless Combat
Invincible VS is a 3v3 tag team fighting game in the tradition of Marvel vs. Capcom and Dragon Ball FighterZ, built around the Omni-Tag combo system. Players can swap fighters mid-combo to extend attacks, counter enemies, or save a teammate from a fatal blow — creating fluid, cinematic chain sequences that feel ripped straight from the show.
Combat features light, medium, heavy, and special attacks mapped across the main four buttons. The Heroic Boost system amplifies Special attacks and movement speed for an extra touch of violence at critical moments. And when you land the finishing blow — bodies burst in an Overkill, a satisfyingly brutal exclamation point to every match.
Costumes tear in real time. Characters get covered in blood. When health gets critically low, idle animations change — fighters are visibly exhausted but refuse to go down. As Executive Producer Mike Willette explained, the goal was never gratuitous gore for its own sake — it was about expressing the authentic brutality of beings with superhuman power clashing without restraint.
A Brand New Original Character: Conquest
The final character revealed for the launch roster is Conquest — the terrifyingly powerful and mentally unstable Viltrumite who fans of both the comics and show will recognize immediately. Described by Quarter Up as a striker who applies "immense pressure" with overwhelming strikes, his charging punch builds speed and gains super armor the further it travels. He is, appropriately, exactly as dangerous as he looks.
Open Beta: Happening Right Now

Year 1 DLC: The Immortal and Universa
Quarter Up confirmed the first two post-launch DLC characters: The Immortal — a long-living warrior and pillar of the Guardians of the Globe — and Universa, who debuted in Invincible animated Season 4. The Year 1 Character Pass is included in the Digital Deluxe Edition ($69.99) and the Collector's Edition ($99.99).
The Collector's Edition also includes a Steelbook case, four character cards, a controller layout card, and a physical reprint of Invincible #1 — the comic that started it all.
Platforms and Pricing
Invincible VS launches April 30, 2026 for $49.99 on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC via Steam and Microsoft Store. The Xbox version includes Xbox Play Anywhere support — one purchase, playable across Xbox console and PC. Pre-ordering any edition unlocks the Zero Suit Mark skin with four color variants as an exclusive bonus.
Conclusion
Invincible VS arrives at the perfect moment — Season 4 of the animated series is airing, the comics are ongoing, and the franchise has never had more cultural momentum. Quarter Up has combined Killer Instinct-level fighting game expertise with deep respect for Kirkman's universe and the result is a game that looks genuinely worthy of the IP it represents.
April 30. Assemble your team of three. And try to feel invincible.
Three fighters. One team. No mercy.
