FC Pro Open 2026: Vejrgang Reigns Supreme — The World's Biggest Virtual Football Tournament Crowns Its Champion

From 77,000 Players to 24 Champions

The journey to FC Pro glory begins where every great esports story does — with open competition. The Pro Ladder, serving as the preliminary round, attracted an astonishing 77,000 participants, with only 43 advancing to Regional Qualifiers — highlighting the intense competition at the base of the pyramid.

From there, 24 of the best FC players in the world were selected to compete for the third FC Pro Open title — welcoming former winners, current and former World Champions, eChampions League winners, and partner league champions from across the globe.

The Format: Eight Matchdays, One Finals Night

The FC Pro Open 26 is an offline European tournament organized by EA — an S-Tier event featuring 24 players competing over a total prize pool of $532,000 USD.

The season ran for six weeks across two splits: Split 1 from November 24 to December 8, 2025, and Split 2 from January 5 to January 20, 2026. Competitors were divided into four groups of six, playing each other twice in a double round-robin format.

The top three competitors from each group qualified for the FC Pro Open Finals — a single-elimination bracket where the eight quarterfinalists also earned direct qualification for the FC Pro World Championship.

The Champion: Vejrgang Does It Again

When the dust settled on Finals night, one name stood above all others. On February 27, 2026, Vejrgang and Emre Yilmaz went head-to-head in the FC Pro Open 2026 grand finale — and it was Vejrgang who took home the gold with a commanding score of 4-1.

The road to the final was no less impressive. The quarterfinal matchups saw Vejrgang face Manubachoore, Levi de Weerd take on Umut, Emre Yilmaz battle Hhezers, and Danipitbull clash with Nassada — before Vejrgang and Emre Yilmaz emerged from the semifinals to contest the title.

The winner took home $100,000 USD  — a life-changing payday in the world of competitive virtual football, and a number that reflects just how seriously EA and its partners take the FC Pro ecosystem.

What's at Stake: A $1.5 Million World Championship

The Open was just the beginning. A total of 36 esports players will compete at the FC Pro World Championship 2026, with a stunning $1.5 million prize pool on the line.

Two players earn direct slots through partner leagues, while eight more fight through the FC Pro Open. Only the top 24 qualify for the playoffs — the other 12 go home immediately after the group stage. In the final stages, the Olympic elimination format applies: one win decides everything, until only the king of virtual football remains.

The World Championship: Riyadh Calls

The FC Pro 26 World Championship is the third World Championship under the EA Sports FC banner — and EA SPORTS FC was confirmed as part of the Esports World Cup 2026 lineup on January 20, 2026. As with last year, the FC Pro 26 World Championship itself will take place as part of the Esports World Cup in Riyadh.

ManuBachoore had already etched his name in history in Riyadh the previous season, defeating Brice in a thrilling Grand Final  — setting the standard for what this year's championship must match.

The winners of the quarterfinals qualify for the FC Pro World Championship in July 2026 — where every match, every goal, and every decision carries the weight of a world title on the line.

The Booming Transfer Market

One of the most fascinating side effects of FC Pro's growth is what it's doing to player valuations off the pitch. Transfers between clubs like Boars Gaming and S2G Esports are now accompanied by compensation in the tens of thousands of dollars — this has become the norm. In the first quarter of 2026 alone, more than 20 buyout transactions were recorded. Sponsors have finally seen real profit in cyber football, and after each World Championship, budgets for transfers and player buybacks grow by 15–25% as investors see a return on EA Sports FC contracts.

Virtual football is no longer just gaming. It's a fully functioning professional sports ecosystem — complete with contracts, transfers, buyouts, and sponsorship deals.

How to Watch and Qualify for FC Pro 27

The 4th-place finishers from each group were invited to the FC Pro 27 Open Global Qualifier, while semifinalists earned invitations to FC Pro 27 Open directly  — ensuring the competitive pyramid remains accessible for the next generation of players.

All FC Pro matches are broadcast live from 4pm GMT on EA's official Twitch and YouTube channels  — making the world's biggest virtual football competition available to every fan on the planet for free.

The Verdict: Virtual Football's Greatest Stage

The FC Pro Open 2026 delivered everything it promised — elite competition, giant-killing upsets, and a champion worthy of the title. Vejrgang's 4-1 destruction of Emre Yilmaz in the grand final was a statement of dominance that will echo through the competitive scene all the way to Riyadh.

With $1.5 million waiting at the World Championship and 36 of the world's best players hungry for glory, the FC Pro 2026 season is only just getting started.

The pitch is set. The players are ready. Riyadh awaits.
